Chopard has been designing and manufacturing the Mille Miglia edition watches since 1988. Each year Chopard designs a Mille Miglia specifically for that year’s race. The race showcases historic race cars from around the world.



The Mille Miglia a classic round case with a Tachymeter bezel. This watch is available in a chrono version and an automatic version. The dial treatments are very handsome. Chopard has designed a dial that features a circular guilloche treatment on the subdials. This treatment enhances the race car feel of the watch.  The Dial is easy to read as it has luminous marks and hands and a glareproof crystal. The date window is cleanly tucked away between the four and five o’clock hour markers.



Chopard has offers several different dial color combinations. Our favorite is the white dial with black sub dials. There is also an all black dial version. The Mille Miglia Racing Colors limited edition series includes five versions with different dial colors: yellow, gray, black, red and blue. Each Mille Miglia watch has the race log applied in red on the seconds sub dial. One of the most unique features of this watch is the strap design. Chopard has designed a 1960’s style leather racing strap with round holes cut into the strap. Even more unique is the natural black rubber strap with a 1960’s Dunlop Racing tire design.

Frederic Piguet, a distinguished manufacturer of high-grade mechanical movements and a company of the Swatch Group, has launched its own French-language website.  In addition the requisite contact information, the site enables visitors to acquaint themselves with the rich history of Frederic Piguet, all the way from its founding in 1858 by Louis Elisée Piguet to the present day, and become familiar with the many design and production steps in the creation of Frederic Piguet movements.

The new Frederic Piguet website displays a palette of the firm's current creations, among them such well-known calibers as the Cal. 1150, a self-winding movement with dual mainspring barrels and 100 hours of power reserve, and the Cal. 1185, a slender chronograph movement with automatic winding, column wheel, and vertical clutch coupling.   The manufacture's hybrid mechanical-quartz chronograph caliber is also shown, along with the Frederic Piguet 69, a new grande date mechanism.  

Frederic Piguet is perhaps best well known to connoisseurs for its association with Blancpain, for whom it produces a number of exclusive executions.  However, other Swatch Group companies also utilize FP calibers, among them Breguet and Jaquet Droz.   Additionally, a handful of elite watchmaking brands outside of the Swatch Group make use of Frederic Piguet movements, or have in the past.

Encased within a luxurious case crafted from polished exotic hardwood, polished metal fittings, and soft leathers are two Golden Ellipse watches, both realized in platinum.  The larger model, Ref. 5738P, measures 34.5 x 39.5mm in diameter, while the Ref. 3738/100P retains the classic Golden Ellipse dimensions of 31.1 x 35.6mm.  Both timepieces display a brilliant "Blue Gold" 18K dial that presents a striking soleil finish.  Ticking beneath the platinum casebacks is the manufacture Patek Philippe 240 caliber.  This slender self-winding movement, which has earned the Geneva Seal hallmark for its adherence to the established guidelines of Genevoise haute horlogerie, features a freely-sprung Gyromax balance and a 22-karat gold micro-rotor; the balance completes 21,600 semi-oscillations each hour, and power reserve is 48 hours.  

In addition to the platinum Ellipse watches, Patek Philippe's anniversary set includes elegant white gold cuff links, whose shape--like the watch itself--expresses the harmonious proportions of the famous "Golden Ratio".  Beneath the main compartment for the watches and cuff links, a slide-out drawer holds a round-link Ellipse necklace with a diamond-set pendant.

Patek Philippe will produce just 100 examples of its Ellipse two-watch set.  The timepieces both feature sapphire crystals, and have a water resistance rating of 30 meters.

The GP0033Q0 caliber is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, which allows the owner to contemplate the fine perlage and Cotes de Geneve finishing which has been applied to the plate, bridges, and rotor. In addition to the complex mechanism which controls the calendar, a mark of distinction for this refined movement is the Microvar balance, which is the result of Girard-Perregaux's extensive research in the field of chronometry. A system of six screws and two weights allow exceptional fine-tuning of the rate. An additional point of technical excellence is the fact that balance is freely sprung, which results in greater positional stability, and much reduced susceptibility to changes in adjustment from shocks, compared to regulated, non-free sprung systems.



The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Square Perpetual Calendar watch is presented in both white gold and pink gold versions. Each is fitted with a fine hand-sewn crocodile strap and joined elegantly to the wrist via a deployant clasp crafted from 18K white or pink gold, according to the model.
